Christmas Macaroons

Kids love singing Christmas carols, including the famous tune “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” When doing your holiday baking this year, keep in mind that kids love holiday treats that are fun to look at so that they’re fun to eat! These “Reindeer Noses” are the perfect festive holiday treat.

Christmas Macaroons

These cute little macaroons are designed to look like Rudolph’s nose! Make sure you bake a lot of them, because a plate of these will be eaten up faster than you can say “Ho, Ho, Ho!”

These chocolate coconut macaroons topped with a red candy center are designed to resemble every child’s favourite reindeer, Rudolph. They look adorable, are extremely easy to make, and are super delicious to eat. This video from my YouTube channel teaches you exactly how to make them.

If you would like to print the recipe for your own use, you can do so by clicking here: Reindeer Nose Macaroons.

What can you use for the nose? Just about anything that’s red! A round, red gumball or half of a maraschino cherry is the ideal topping for these macaroons, but you can also use Smarties, M&Ms, jelly beans, or cinnamon hearts. The kids will love them regardless… and adults love them too! These things are delicious!

Know someone with a food allergy? One of the great things about this recipe is that it is friendly towards people with food sensitivities. The original recipe is gluten-free, and depending on the type of chocolate you use, you can make these treats dairy-free as well.

Tasty variation: I decided to change up the recipe a little and use 3/4 cup of oats with 1 3/4 cups of shredded coconut. You can try a similar variation, but make sure that the amount of oats and coconut together still totals 2 1/2 cups. Also keep in mind that depending on the oats you use, your recipe may no longer be gluten-free.

I hope this recipe added some fun and colour to your holiday baking! I’d love to hear what you thought of my recipe, and my video. I always appreciate new comments and new subscribers!

  • fast foawrrd one year after your post here, and i am counting down to passover why ? to make your coconut macaroons here of course ! i hope they come out as perfect as yours above.

    • Thanks, I’m glad you like them! I actually make these all year round. Try them with different coloured smarties as well for Spring or Summer 🙂

  • I made these for my kids and they tasted delicious! (We used coloured smarties for decoration instead of only using red ones). My daughter is lactose intolerant and my son is gluten intolerant so it was great to find a homemade dessert that I could make for both of them! Thanks!
